Craziness

I got a call from a friend of mine yesterday while I was driving home from work. I hadn't talked to him in a while so we did some catching up and then he told me that he'd just had the worst week of his life. I asked why and he told me that he had been arrested and spent a night in jail. Now, this is a mild-mannered dude so I was pretty shocked. However, knowing what he had been going through with his wife I knew it had something to do with her. He is in the process of filing for divorce and hasn't been living in their home for the past few months. She is a raging lunatic and has been putting him through hell whichever way she can.
I asked him what she did and he proceeded to tell me what happened:

He stopped at the house to pick up some clothes. He also needed to charge his phone as well as see his daughter. He plugged his phone in and went into another room to play with the baby. His wife picks up his phone and starts to go through it, reading all his text messages. She sees some that she doesn't think are appropriate and loses her shit. She gets all in his face, starts hitting him in his back, screaming, yelling, etc. This is pretty much how all their fights go. He'll eventually just leave the house until she calms down. But this time he tried to tell her that she shouldn't have been going through his shit, that what he does while they are separated is none of her business, yada yada.
The baby is sitting on the floor watching all this go on asking her Daddy not to yell. He told me that T (his wife) frequently argued with no regard to whether the baby witnessed it or not. So she's going on and on and my friend is trying to pick the baby up so he can take her and leave until T calms down. He's talking to the baby saying "It's ok, Daddy loves you. We're gonna leave in a minute" etc. T tries to grab the baby and says "This muthafucka don't love you! He don't care about you! Don't put your hands on my daughter!" Now mind you, the baby is only 2 years old. She don't really understand all this. So for T to go there was clearly in an effort to make dude mad.
So, upon hearing her say that to his daughter about him, he proceeds to lose his own shit. He grabs hold of her neck, lifts her up in the air and shakes her telling her not to ever say no shit like that to his daughter about him. He then drops her on the floor. She gets up with the quickness and calls the police. The police come, put him in cuffs and take him out to the car. They get her side of the story, go out and get his side of the story and then tell him they have to place him under arrest.
While my friend is in jail, T presses charges and gets a restraining order against him and his parents. His parents are the main ones who babysat while they worked during the day and are definitely not a threat to the child so I didn't see her reasoning for this. But anyway...
My friend tells me that when he got out of jail, he and his parents went back to the house to try and get his truck so he could go to work. The police were called to oversee all this. T wouldn't give the truck back. Her reason: Simply because she didn't want him to have it. She said let him find another way to try to get to work. His parents tried to reason with her. She cussed them out. She has her own truck. No reason to try to keep his. But that's just how she is.
While I'm talking to my friend I can tell in his voice how angry he is that shit got this far. He now has a misdemeanor on his record and has to take anger management classes. He said he has never put his hands on a woman and doesn't know what came over him. He said he hasn't seen his baby in days and starts to cry. He told me that all he wants is his baby. He said she can have the house, all their cars, everything...he just wants his daughter.
He also told me that he's been talking to her family trying to plead his case. Her own family said they knew that this would happen eventually because T is nuts. Her father said he was disappointed in him but told him that he can't say he wouldn't have done the same thing.
Needless to say, I was in complete shock about the whole situation. No way should he have ever put his hands on her but I lightweight think she deserved it. LOL! I'm terrible...but damn! How far do you push a man...how many buttons do you press trying to get a rise out of him before he snaps? I have never understood why chicks do crazy shit like that.

What's your take on this?

My uncle...

I went to visit my Uncle the other day at the hospice. I barely recognized him when I walked in his suite. He is literally skin and bones. Compared to the last time I saw him, he's in pretty bad shape. I noticed that he seemed to be disoriented at times and had a hard time breathing and speaking. His eyes were rolling in the back of his head a lot and he was "talking to himself" and waving at the ceiling. He was able to hold a conversation at some points. I rubbed lotion on his legs and he thanked me when I was done and called me by my childhood nickname. His condition seemed to vary the whole time I was there. While he seemed weak most of the time, he was able to sit up (quick as hell - he scared the shit out of me lol) and drink his so-called cocktail of Sprite mixed with water. My brother called while I was there and he almost sounded like his old self...a very animated conversation, littered with his customary curse words.
I left around 8pm. I left my Granny there...she didn't think he was doing well and she said she wanted to be with him if he passed overnight.
So far so good though...I called today to check on him and he sounded ok. I do really feel that he's ready to pass, though. My BFF said her grandmother was the same way right before she passed. Mumbling and waving at the ceiling. I console myself by thinking that he's waving to my other Uncle (his brother) and my Grandfather (his dad) who have already passed and are just waiting to meet him up there.
I took a picture with my phone of the scenery outside his room. He has french doors opening out onto a patio. There's a flower garden out there and chairs with a beautiful view of the lake. The sun was just about done setting. The wind was blowing, you could tell it was about to storm. I showed it to him and he said it was heaven. I think I agree...

Grrrrr

Living with a boy is OVERRATED!

The weekend before last, I cleaned the house from top to bottom. Scrubbed, dusted, polished...I was sweating like a slave! I was hosting a Pure Romance party so the crib has to be spotless. Not 24 hours after all my hard work, the boy had the house looking a mess!

Now, he would say (and I'd agree) that we can both get a little lazy during the week. Not picking up after ourselves, not putting dishes in the dishwasher...that's all fine and good. But all my hard work (HOURS YALL!)...down the drain.

So the other day, I get in from work and the house is looking like a tornado hit. The kitchen...hot damn mess. Garbage waiting to be taken out (his job since I do laundry), clothes all over the chairs and couch. And my lovely, lovely boyfriend sitting on the floor playing Xbox.

So, I start picking up a little bit. He notices what I'm doing and says "You got company coming over?"

**&^!$!!$##%!!!!!

NOOOOOOOO! I just don't want to try to relax in a freakin pigsty!!!!!

I love him yall...I really, truly do. But I'm about to trade his ass in for a Molly Maid.

Hair Update!

I have started my regime and used the KeraCare Conditioning Creme Hairdress on my ends before I wrapped it at night. I woke up in the morning and I just didn't like the way my hair felt. My ends felt a little..."crunchy". The rest of my hair was soft, smooth and shiny but the ends were a different story. Because that is my problem area, I decided right then that that particular product probably wouldn't be used again.
I went to the store last night and bought some Elasta QP Mango Butter Conditioner. I put it on my ends last night and wrapped as usual. This morning my ends were SO soft. I am VERY pleased. Yesterday and today, I am wearing my hair in a protective style. Up in a clip and away from my face. I'll probably continue this until I wash my hair on Sunday. I plan to do my first rollerset. LOL! This is gonna be funny. I'll have D take pictures.

Uh, not much else to write about. I'm hungry, my tummy is growling, I have on the cutest damn shoes today and I need an oil change. LOL!

Brothas...get it together!

So yesterday, I'm sitting outside my classroom waiting for the previous class's students to leave. I'm minding my own, reading a book. This guy walks over and stands against the opposite wall, facing me. He's on his cell phone and because he's talking so damn loud, I can hear his entire conversation. I look up (my Daddy told me to be ALWAYS be aware of my surroundings) just to check him out and then go back to reading. Now, I don't make it my business to listen to other people's conversations but like I said, dude was being real loud with his. I could hear a chick on the other end. He's telling her that he's off on Thursday and Friday so she can come over and spend the night on Wednesday. They discuss him cooking for her and something that makes him laugh and say "Hell, yeah". I am thinking "Ew" to myself cause dude is *not* cute.
Anyway, he hangs up with the girl and comes over to me.

Frodo: Hey, I just had to come over and speak to you. What's your name?

Me: *thinking: No, he didn't just get off the phone with some chick and then come try to holla at me* I'm Monie.

Frodo: Hi, how you doing, Monie? I'm Eric.

Me: Hi, nice to meet you.

Frodo: You reading a book for class?

Me: No, it's for my bookclub.

Frodo: Oh, a bookclub? You're all smart and stuff, I see.

Me: *blank stare* (I thought being in a bookclub simply meant that I could read and enjoyed discussing my readings with other people)

Frodo: Well, I came over to see if maybe I could take you out someti...

Me: I'm sorry, I have a boyfriend.

Frodo: I'm not trying to get to know your boyfriend.

INSTANT SHUTDOWN

Now, I have blogged about this before but I cannot get over just how rude some of these ninjas can be! In my opinion, if you approach me and upon hearing I have a boyfriend, you proceed to disrespect my relationship...that tells me you are only interested in what's in my panty-drawls. And last time I checked, I wasn't a hoe so...

Me: We live together and I am very happy. (I hate having to explain myself. I need a better comeback. Something rude but nice LOL)

Frodo: Aw, ok. You sure? We could have a good time.

Me: Yeah, I'm sure. It was nice meeting you though.

Blahhhhhhhh...I'm so glad I'm in a relationship. I couldn't imagine dating if these are the types of lame-o's that I'd have to be subjected to.

Operation Hair Growth

Picture taken this morning, 7:42 am. Please, PLEASE ignore the racerback tank and the bra straps...it all came together in the end. LOL

Moving on...I am on a mission to see how long I can grow my hair. Like many women I know, when we were little we all had the long, thick, natural hair that Momma used to spend hours washing, combing, braiding, hot combing, etc. I didn't get a relaxer until I was 14. I've heard a lot of horror stories about relaxers but thankfully they don't apply to me. Even with my relaxed hair, it was still pretty healthy, long and full. I usually like for my hair to be at about shoulder length. It's just easier for me to manage and maintain. Yet, a few months ago, I'm getting my hair done and my friend says she can't believe how long my hair has grown. I look in the mirror and am shocked. My hair was down my back. And...I liked it. I liked it a lot. LOL Unfortunately, my friend is a bit scissor happy and she chopped all that new length off.
I attempted growing my relaxer out and going natural. At about 9 weeks without a relaxer, my hair sent me a text message like..."Bitch, is you crazy?!" LMAO!
When I got my hair done every two weeks, it grew like a weed. But to be honest, I don't really take care of it like I should. I go to sleep without wrapping it, it stays in a dry ass ponytail...just straight dogging my tresses. LOL Even with all the abuse, it still stays pretty healthy. That's why I really want to try to see how long I can grow it.

I will take pictures every 3 months to track my progress. Here is the regime that I plan to follow, washing my hair every 7 days or so (fine-tuning as I go along to see what works and what doesn't):

1) Prepoo. I wasn't hip to this whole prepooing thing but it seems like it could be the business. One of my biggest problems is how dry my hair can get. I'm trying this to see if it helps.

2) Shampoo. Taking care to wash only my roots. I've read that shampoo really dries out your ends and I know rubbing my hair all over my head leads to breakage.

3) Condition. I plan to let the conditioner sit in my hair under a hot towel for about 15 minutes and then rinsing it out completely. My hair does not like leave-in conditioners (none that I've tried) so I won't be using any. I have to remember not to towel dry my hair and just squeeze the water out.

4) Rollerset. I had never had this done until the last time I got my hair done. My hair turned out beautifully! It was bouncy and shiny. I'm trying this now to see how my hair reacts to it long-term.

5) Saran Wrap Treatment. I had heard about this process made famous by Dominican hairstylists but got a full tutorial courtesy of Macherieamour (see Healthy Hair! on my blogroll). I'm willing to try it to see how it works. I will look crazy as hell, I'm sure, but hopefully I'll get some good results.

6) Wrap. Basic hair care 101 for Black women. I have a hard time (read: I'm lazy as hell) being consistent with wrapping my hair at night but now I have a reason to. I also plan to wrap it as soon as I get home from work and/or class. I figure the longer it's down, the more damage it is sustaining due to it rubbing against my clothes, D pulling on it (lmaooo - kidding!), etc.

I will be using the following products:
KeraCare Moisturizing Shampoo
KeraCare Moisturizing Conditioner
KeraCare Conditioning Creme Hairdress
KeraCare Moisturizer with Jojoba Oil
KeraCare Foam Wrap-Set Lotion
KeraCare Humecto Creme Conditioner

Notice a theme? LOL I'm using KeraCare because that is what my friend has been using on my hair. I have proof that my hair loves it.

Wish me luck on this hair journey. Hopefully, I won't get too frustrated and quit. LOL If you have any tips (especially on the baggy method because I am dying to understand what that shit is), please leave them in my comments.

Later!

Quick Post

This will be quick cause I have lots of catch up reading to do...as well as actual work. LOL!

Flag football was SO MUCH FUN! I had a fucking blast and I can't wait til we play again on Saturday. I played the entire 40 minutes and was not that tired at all. I probably looked like a homeless person with everything that I had on (it was COLD!) LOL.

I am being pressured to take pictures of myself in my "uniform" in addition to some action flicks so I'll try to see about doing that and posting them.

Hope everyone's weekend was good. Hugs and kisses! Later!
